Kevin Andrews in the electorate of Menzies is the longest serving Federal member in Australia. The secret to his longevity is that he looks after his electorate no matter what the political ideology, background or religious denomination is. He never lets his constituents down and is always available when called upon to serve his electorate.
A strong supporter of the Morrison Government, a survivor amidst the numerous challenges faced by his colleagues and is now seeking another term in office. You have to give it to Kevin, he has made Menzies his lifelong work and his passion for helping others knows no bounds.
A humble man who never takes life for granted nor that of his constituents. He knows that he carries an enormous responsibility on his shoulder to ensure that the needs of his electorate are met. A copy of the article may be downloaded by clicking on: KEVIN ANDREWS FIVE YEAR PLAN
Always honoured to be re-elected Kevin is an extremely fit man and regular exercises to keep into shape. Being a parliamentarian may have its quirks but to maintain his heavy schedule. Quietly confident about the trust and sensibility of the people he represents, Kevin Andrews takes nothing for granted. At the last election, the Menzies electorate suffered a severe re-distribution effect. The Australian Electoral Commission, decided in its infinite wisdom, that Menzies should go across the Yarra and included parts of former Jaga Jaga, always a strong Labor seat. Despite that Kevin Andrews managed a 7 per cent margin whereas other Liberal seats, which also suffered in the re-distribution did not do nearly so well. Kevin has been able to continue his extraordinary political career in excess of twenty five years and it is expected that he will continue to do so in the future, as he has no immediate plans to retire.
His previous portfolios have included Social Services, Defence, ageing, employment and workplace relations and immigration and citizenship. His ability to attract excellent advisers and staff is a testament to Kevin Andrews’s leadership style and personal touch. There are many who can point to Kevin Andrews for assisting them in their careers whether it was within a political sphere or outside of politics. Kevin Andrews is not afraid to confront challenges and find solutions to them, in fact it has been said that he has the uncanny ability to see through the maze and labyrinth of problems and issues to quickly identify a solution. His skills, knowledge and political experiences enables him to maintain his five year plan, a plan for the future. A five year plan which according to his campaign brochure is for the government to maintain stability and plan for a bright future for all Australians.
Kevin Andrew’s today is being challenged by Keith Wolahan a barrister and Army Reserve Captain. Keith Wolahan has been a member of the Liberal for approximately twenty five years and would have arrived on the scene a few years after Kevin Andrews had won the seat of Menzies. Keith Wolohan is also the current Chairman for Bulleen, the seat held by the former Opposition leader Matthew Guy. Matthew Guy knows both men well as colleagues and friends and is reluctant to be drawn into any pre-selection battle. Keith Wolahan political association with Tony Snell a former Liberal party President is strong. However it was unfortunate that Damien Mantach a former State Director succumbed to self-interest and greed under Tony Snell’s watch which landed him jail. Keith Wolahan has had three tours of Afghanistan and is well liked by his troops. A copy of the Menzies battle article may be found by clicking on: MENZIES A BATTLE WITHIN THE LABYRINTH
The early pre-selection is the alleged brainchild of Ian Quick, who is currently on the Administrative Committee chaired under the leadership of Robert Clark. Robert Clark is under pressure from the Parliamentary party, the Prime Minister and the majority of the grass roots who are against any early pre-selection concepts. Defying the Prime Minister and the parliamentary party is one thing, but to defy the grass roots elements who make up the majority of the party is another. Robert Clark will use the Menzies early pre-selection to stamp his leadership on the outcome. There is an alleged connection between Keith Wolahan and Ian Quick, something which has raised eyebrows in some quarters.
