Turnbull neglects indigenous

It is ironic that despite all the euphoria and jubilation surrounding the SSM issue, other bills requiring the attentions of Federal Parliament were put aside so that the SSM was RUSHED through parliament.

LGBTQI COMMUNITY.                    The actress/comedian “Magda” was 100% correct when she allegedly said that the LGBTQI community were merely “Guinea Pigs.

MALCOLM TURNBULL.                 What goes round comes round. Turnbull’s unfortunate choice of words that were used to depose his own leader (Abbott) have come back to haunt him.  So very true. Malcolm Turnbull was faced with 24 consecutive poor ratings in the polls, the citizenship saga which weakened his hold on power, dissent amongst his colleagues, the Chinese financial contributions to his political party are but some of the many challenges he faced.

To be fair, one has to admire his tenacity and his cunning use of all the resources available to him to cling to power. He is very lucky that there is no organised challenge to his leadership or the numbers to remove him. But as many others who have a better knowledge of the Prime Minister have pointed out on many occasions to me that it will only be a matter of time before the Prime Minister implodes.

Although it has yet to occur, I am led to believe that those against Malcolm Turnbull are gaining ground and that maybe in 2018 we may finally see the results of the growing dissent within his own ranks.

That Malcolm Turnbull is an ambitious person, no one can deny that. Even he recognises that he is an ambitious person. . There is nothing wrong with ambition as long as those interests are for the good of society. But then again in Malcolm Tuirnbulls own words:  “When politicians offer you something for nothing, or something that sounds too good to be true, it’s always worth taking a careful second look”:  https://www.brainyquote.com/authors/malcolm_turnbull

POTENTIAL CHALLENGERS TO PM.                  Frydenberg is no longer considered a real possibility and has been unable to generate the confidence and enthusiasm of his colleagues.

Brandis is a good bloke but does not want the job given that he is well suited in his current role and he is enjoying it.

Morrison has what it takes but does not have the numbers, Abbott is a real possibility but does not have the confidence of his colleagues who are afraid of a public backlash.

Dutton is being cultivated but does not enjoy public support. This is a pity but then again if a suitable running mate can be found, he is a strong challenger.

Michael Sukkar is a good man but does not have the experience to take on the role. He has a bright future and will do well in any role that is offered. He is a hard worker in his electorate.

Julie Bishop has always been looked upon as a serious contender but lacks the
skills to heal the deep divisions amongst her colleagues and cannot be trusted. This is because of her disloyal actions against Abbott who had given her more latitude and freedom than she currently enjoys.

Kevin Andrews has the leadership skills to challenge Malcolm Turnbull but will require a good running mate that should be selected from the left of the party. Kevin has the cunning, political skills and a fighter in the trenches when required to defend his party’s policies.

Combination of left and right.     This scenario has been visited so many times and yet it has eluded all the back room strategists.  No one can come to grips with this dilemma due to the fact that the wounds are dep and the scars are still visible. Those responsible for elevating Malcolm Turnbull have long since regretted in politically knifing their elected leader Tony Abbot.

INDIGENOUS PEOPLE VERSUS SSM.                 Now we find the Prime Minister fumbling and stuttering when faced by an indigenous audience. He struggled to answer questions regarding the actions he took regarding the SSM survey and making it law in record time.

No matter what he said, he was unable to convince his audience that Australia’s indigenous people were important and deserved the same treatment as the LGBTQI community.

But we the people should not be taken for granted or for fools. We can see that Turnbull did not think that indigenous people attracted additional votes to preserve his hold on power.

VETERANS VERSUS SSM.             As I have discussed in a previous article, the plight of veterans, their families and those who have taken their own lives. The veteran community deserve better treatment amidst a society that is changing on a daily basis.

PARENTS/PENSIONERS VERSUS SSM.             The high cost of living is causing much harm to parents struggling to raise their children, pay their mortgage, meet their weekly rental payments and then clothe, educate and feed their children.

The pensioners who have assets but are cash poor are being forced to sell assets they worked so very hard in order not to become a burden society. Pensioners who are finding it difficult to survive on the little they receive.

Some try and relocate to Asia where their meagre dollars have more value. But even here pensioners are being penalised should they decide to remain for lengthy periods or on a permanent basis.

NO GOVERNMENT VISION.                       The current government has no vision for this nation. None at all. This government leaves a lot to be desired and never in the history of this nation has a government been so out of touch and alienated itself from society.

Whether you like him or not, President Trump has demonstrated that he knows how to capture the imagination of his people. His signing the document to return to the moon and beyond is remarkable and his signing has had positive ripple effect across many aspects of American society giving them hope.

If Malcolm Turnbull wants another term in office he will have to find a vision that will bring all Australians together and not the few. In my humble opinion the SSM survey was but a populist stung that fooled nobody.

What we lack now is leadership, a vision, who we are as a nation, what is our role in the world, what defines us and separates us from the rest of the world. We need heroes that will always stand up for the little fellow, the Aussie battler, the Mums and Dads and those struggling to put food on the table, to educate and clothe their family. Where are they today? They are certainly not in Parliament.

2017 was laced with sadness with the passing of family friends and acquaintances and yet despite their passing, I have become the recipient of their memories and will not forget their contribution to making me who I am. May their memory live on in the hearts and minds of those left behind! Life as we know it can only be sustained by vigilance and with that vigilance comes responsibility.  Apologies for the poor grammar and savagery of the English language.
